Traumatic index extensor tendon attenuation mimicking closed tendon rupture: two case reports

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2020
Background While some traumatic closed index extensor tendon ruptures at the musclotendinous junction have been previously reported, closed index extensor tendon pseudorupture due to intertendinous attenuation is exceedingly rare with only one case ...

Unusual presentation of an avulsion of the long digital extensor tendon in a dog: radiographic, computed tomographic, arthroscopic, surgical and histological findings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A long digital extensor tendon avulsion is reported in a 15-month-old intact male Great Dane with a right pelvic limb lameness of 2-week duration. The orthopedic, radiographic, computed tomographic, arthroscopic, surgical and histological findings are ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Technique for Complete Extensor Mechanism Reconstruction Using a Fresh Quadriceps Tendon–Patella–Patellar Tendon–Tibial Tubercle Allograft in a Native Knee

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Chronic extensor mechanism injuries can cause severe functional impairment and require extensive surgical intervention. Current techniques involve reconstruction of the extensor mechanism using allograft, autograft, or synthetic mesh. This Technical Note

Sex Differences in Fatigability of Dynamic Contractions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Women are usually less fatigable than men during single-limb isometric contractions, primarily because of sex-related differences in contractile mechanisms.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

An anatomical study of extensor expansion of thumb

open access: yesNational Journal of Clinical Anatomy, 2020
Introduction: The presence of extensor expansion of the thumb has been reported in the literature and its mode of formation and contribution from the palmar muscles has been studied earlier. Yet, some authors deny its presence in the thumb.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Four cases of variations in the forearm extensor musculature in a study of hundred limbs and review of literature

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2006
All surgeons must bear in mind the existence of muscular variations when performing common tendon transfers. Presence of additional bellies and tendons of existing muscles or presence of additional muscles in unusual locations might misguide a surgeon ...
