Consensus Standards and Recommendations for Developmental and Cognitive Surveillance, Screening, and Evaluation in Sickle Cell Disease: Executive Summary From the National Alliance of Sickle Cell Centers Neurocognitive Workgroup

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive difficulties are prevalent among individuals with sickle cell disease and warrant prompt identification and support. This Special Report provides an executive summary of standards and recommendations for surveillance, screening, and evaluation for development and cognition across the lifespan developed by ...

Green’s function and image system for the Laplace operator in the prolate spheroidal geometry

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
In the present paper, electrostatic image theory is studied for Green’s function for the Laplace operator in the case where the fundamental domain is either the exterior or the interior of a prolate spheroid.

On the Asymptotic Behavior of D-Solutions to the Displacement Problem of Linear Elastostatics in Exterior Domains

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions with finite energy to the displacement problem of linear elastostatics in a three-dimensional exterior Lipschitz domain.

Determining Parental Factors for Clinical Trial Attrition in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Despite high enrollment rates on Children's Oncology Group (COG) protocols, attrition after initial consent is challenging, introducing bias and prolonging trial completion. While adult oncology literature has identified predictors of withdrawal, little is known about caregiver decision‐making for child participation in ...

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

A Domain Decomposition Method Based on BEM and FEM for Linear Exterior Boundary Value Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We develop the finite dimensional analysis of a new domain decomposition method for linear exterior boundary value problems arising in potential theory and heat conductivity.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Infinite semipositone problems with a falling zero and nonlinear boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2018
We consider the problem $$\displaylines{ -u'' =h(t)\big(\frac{au-u^{2}-c}{u^\alpha}\big) , \quad t \in (0, 1),\cr u(0) = 0, \quad u'(1)+g(u(1))=0, }$$ where $a>0$, $c\geq 0$, $\alpha \in (0, 1)$, $h{:}(0, 1] \to (0, \infty)$ is a continuous ...
