Scismotectonics of the Northwest External Dinarides
Tectonophysics, 1990Abstract The region of the tectonic contact between the Alps and the Dinarides is studied comparing all the available geological, geophysical and seismological data. The peculiar crustal structures, in particular the difference in thickness of the Alps, Dinarides, and Pannonian basin can be correlated to the seismically active zones.

Geochemistry of Eocene flysch sandstones in the NW External Dinarides
Acta Geologica Hungarica, 2006We present the main petrographic and geochemical features of the Lower to Middle Eocene turbiditic sandstones from the northwestern portion of the External Dinaride flysch basin. Sampled areas cover SW Slovenia (Vipava and Brkini Basins) and the Istrian Peninsula (Trieste-Koper and Pazin Basins). Framework constituents of the lithic arenites reveal low-

Glacioistostatic rebound of External Dinarides
2000Pleistocene ice cover of the External Dinarides extended to the present day sea level (MARJANAC et al., 1990; MARJANAC & MARJANAC, 1991a), what implies that the mountains were covered by ice during glacial maximum. Velly glaciers were fed from cirques and small ice caps which covered mountain ranges like Mt.

Observations of SKS splitting in the Central External Dinarides-Adria collision zone
Tectonophysics, 2017Seismic anisotropy beneath the greater region of the Central External Dinarides is estimated from observations of SKS splitting. The area is located in the broad and complex Africa-Eurasia convergent plate boundary zone, where the Adriatic microplate interacts with the Dinarides.

The magmatic body of Vratnik consists mainly of composite magmatic rocks (andesite and basalt protoclasts inserted into dacite) and pyroclastic rocks. The rocks have been affected by strong low- temperature hydrothermal alteration. Calc- alakline affinities are inferred on the basis of Ta/Yb and Th/Yb ratios.

Anisotropy of P-wave Velocity in the Upper Crust of the Central External Dinarides
Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1999The anisotropy of Pg wave velocity in the area of the central External Dinarides is measured by using arrival time data as reported by local and regional seismological stations. The observed velocity varies between 5.73km/s (in the ESE-WNW direction) and 6.20 km/s (in the SSW-NNE direction), indicating azimuthal anizotropy with symmetry axis azimuths ...

Attenuation of high-frequency body waves in the crust of the Central External Dinarides
Journal of Seismology, 2015The Central External Dinarides are known as a tectonically complex region of moderate seismicity where several strong earthquakes occurred in the last century. In order to gain insight into the attenuation of seismic waves in the area, the extended coda-normalization method was applied to band-pass filtered seismograms of local earthquakes recorded at ...
