A reconsideration of the external dose assessment for the Techa river population

Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 2002
A new methodology is employed to infer the time course of the external dose rate that affected the Techa riverside population. This was accomplished using information on the radionuclide composition of released radioactive waste and from earlier and current data on the degree of the river floodplain contamination with (137)Cs.

Assessment of external dose indoors in Lithuania

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2005
The aim of this paper was an assessment of external exposure indoors and its dependence on construction materials and indoor radon concentrations in Lithuanian living houses. Relationship of absorbed dose rate in air indoors and activity indexes of the most commonly used construction materials (wood, concrete and bricks) have been studied using results

Dose calculations for external photon beams in radiotherapy

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1999
Dose calculation methods for photon beams are reviewed in the context of radiation therapy treatment planning. Following introductory summaries on photon beam characteristics and clinical requirements on dose calculations, calculation methods are described in order of increasing explicitness of particle transport.

Brazilian External Occupational Dose Management System

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2010
Brazil, a large country, with more than 120,000 workers under individual monitoring for ionising radiation, developed, more than 20 y ago, a centralised data bank for external occupational dose. This old database, however, presented some problems and does not satisfy any more Brazilian present needs, not allowing dose analysis reports, for example ...

DECAY DATA FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL DOSE ASSESSMENT

Health Physics, 2002
Decay data for use in internal and external dose assessment are presented. Decay data for more than 800 radionuclides were taken from the Brookhaven National Laboratory database and formatted for use in internal or external dose assessment (giving nuclide half-life, decay types, energies, and abundances).

EXTERNAL DOSES TO HUMANS FROM 137Cs IN SOIL

Health Physics, 2006
Calculations of absorbed doses in organs of the human body and the total effective dose due to Cs in soil as a source of external exposure are presented in this work. Calculations were done using the MCNP-4B software package. The assumption was made that photons with an energy of 662 keV are emitted in a cylindrical volumetric source in soil up to the ...

External Dose Estimation for Nuclear Worker Studies

Radiation Research, 2006
Epidemiological studies of nuclear workers are an important source of direct information on the health effects of exposure to radiation at low doses and low dose rates. These studies have the important advantage of doses that have been measured objectively through the use of personal dosimeters.

External Radiation Doses from Occupational Exposure

Nature, 1969
Records accumulated between 1960 and 1965 of radiation doses received by a wide range of radiation workers in the United Kingdom have been summarized. Doses were generally small.

Calculation of Effective Doses for External Neutrons.

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1994
Monte Carlo calculations of the effective dose, on the basis of 1CRP Publication 60, were performed for external neutrons from thermal energy to 18.3 MeV for five irradiation geometries: AP, PA, RLAT, ROT and ISO. A unisex anthropomorphic phantom and the MORSE-CG code were used in conjunction with a nuclear data set based on the JENDL-3 library.

Shielding Factors and External Dose Evaluation

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1987
The kerma in typical European houses in urban and suburban environments due to the gamma radiation from the contamination of different deposition areas such as lawns, trees, windows, walls, roofs, paved areas, light-shafts and internal surfaces has been calculated by extensive Monte Carlo simulations.
