European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Dose coefficient estimation for terrestrial Sphingonotus insects near nuclear facilities in Northwest China

open access: yesFushe yanjiu yu fushe gongyi xuebao, 2022
To study the representative dose coefficients near nuclear facilities in the arid regions of Northwest China, a simplified anatomical model of Sphingonotus insects using computed tomography (CT) scanning is proposed. In addition, a voxel model created by

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Extending in aqua portal dosimetry with dose inhomogeneity conversion maps for accurate patient dose reconstruction in external beam radiotherapy

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology, 2022
Background and purpose: In aqua dosimetry with electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) allows for dosimetric treatment verification in external beam radiotherapy by comparing EPID-reconstructed dose distributions (EPID_IA) with dose distributions ...

Patient-Specific Fetal Dose Determination for Multi-Target Gamma Knife Radiosurgery: Computational Model and Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A 42-year-old woman at 29 weeks gestation via in vitro fertilization who presented with eight metastatic brain lesions received Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery (GKSRS) at our institution. In this study, we report our clinical experience and a ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Ultra-low dose external beam radiotherapy for presumed choroidal lymphoma: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection, 2022
Primary choroidal lymphoma is a rare, slowly progressive intraocular malignancy. Most are low grade B cell lymphomas, often involving tissues adjacent to the choroid such as the subconjunctival space, lacrimal gland or orbit.

External Doses of Residents near Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research, 1999
Accumulated external radiation doses of residents near the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site of the former USSR are presented as a results of study by the thermoluminescence technique for bricks sampled at several settlements in 1995 and 1996. The external doses that we evaluated from exposed bricks were up to about 100 cGy for resident.
