Biocompatibility and healing patterns in experimentally induced canine tibial fractures using Pedicle screw‐Rod external fixation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that using a Pedicle screw‐Rod configuration for the external fixation of non‐articular tibial osteotomy aligns well with the principles of biological osteosynthesis, resulting in secondary bone healing characterized by callus formation and neovascularization.

50 Years of Giese Reaction – a Personal View

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The Giese‐Reaction celebrates its 50. Birthday, it is a cyclic radical chain reaction centered around C,C‐bond formation in a three component synthesis. This minireview speaks about the birth of the name‐reaction, explains how the complete understanding of its reaction mechanism stimulates new methods in organic synthesis, and why it can proceed in ...

Late Pregnancy Antiseizure Medication Exposure and Offspring Neurodevelopmental Risk: A Multi‐Child Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Antiseizure medication (ASM) use during pregnancy has increased over the past decade. However, evidence linking prenatal ASM exposure to neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) in offspring remains inconsistent. This study evaluated whether prenatal ASM exposure increases the risk of NDDs in children.

Exposition of Radiation‐Stabilized Polypropylene Copolymer to Repeated Injection Molding and γ‐Radiation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Stabilizing effect of Tinuvin 622 on fourfold injection molding and γ‐radiation treatment. ABSTRACT High‐quality requirements for plastic components in healthcare limit their recyclability. This study examined the stability of a representative polypropylene copolymer (PP‐C) containing Tinuvin 622 (T622) as a light stabilizer and calcium stearate (CaSt)

Helmeted hornbill cranial kinesis: Balancing mobility and stability in a high‐impact joint

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Prokinesis—in which a craniofacial joint allows the rostrum to move relative to the braincase—is thought to confer diverse advantages in birds, mostly for feeding. A craniofacial joint would, however, be a weak link if cranial stability is important. Paradoxically, we have identified a craniofacial joint in helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil),

Variation in parrot jaw musculature

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Interspecific morphological differences in some superficial jaw muscles of parrots. Abstract Psittaciformes, the order encompassing parrots and their relatives, are highly diverse and generally known for having a strong beaks used for multiple behaviors. The muscles related to the masticatory apparatus should reflect this functional complexity; however,
