Non-contact hemodynamic imaging reveals the jugular venous pulse waveform [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Cardiovascular monitoring is important to prevent diseases from progressing. The jugular venous pulse (JVP) waveform offers important clinical information about cardiac health, but is not routinely examined due to its invasive catheterisation procedure.

Convergence of the right and left external jugular veins to the midline: a rare finding of anatomical variation [PDF]

open access: yes
Venous blood from the head and neck are drained mainly by the internal and external jugular veins. The external jugular vein is located in the anterolateral region of the neck taking a complex pathway perpendicularly down the neck to join the subclavian ...

Inhalable Nano Formulation of Cabazitaxel: A Comparative Study with Intravenous Route

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
Nano drug formulation shows no signs of toxicity for IV and INH routes, whereas higher systemic toxicity occurs in free drug formulation in both. Inhalable nano formulation provides higher and longer retention in deep lung regions due to its size and defies rapid systemic absorption in the lungs.

Core entropy and biaccessibility of quadratic polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
For complex quadratic polynomials, the topology of the Julia set and the dynamics are understood from another perspective by considering the Hausdorff dimension of biaccessing angles and the core entropy: the topological entropy on the Hubbard tree. These quantities are related according to Thurston.

Venopunkcja żyły odłokciowej jako alternatywne podejście dla oceny stężenia CGRP w osoczu krwi u pacjentów z dysfunkcją układu ruchowego narządu żucia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: Calcitonin gene-related peptide is an important vasodilator. It plays an important role in the metabolism of chewing muscles. The aim of the study was to evaluate the plasma level of CGRP in patients with myofascial pain (RDC/TMD Ia) and ...

Predictive Factors of Free Flap Volume Evolution in Head and Neck Reconstruction

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The aim of our study was to determine the factors influencing the evolution of the total volume and bone volume of free flaps commonly used in head and neck surgery, with a 30‐month prospective study, to establish volume change predictions and thus propose a degree of overcorrection to be expected before reconstruction.

A Local Descriptor with Physiological Characteristic for Finger Vein Recognition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Local feature descriptors exhibit great superiority in finger vein recognition due to their stability and robustness against local changes in images. However, most of these are methods use general-purpose descriptors that do not consider finger vein-specific features.

Influence of a neck compression collar on cerebrovascular and autonomic function in men and women [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objective Neck compression collars have been proposed to reduce injury to the brain caused by head impacts. Our objective was to test if compression of the carotid artery affected the baroreflex and influenced blood pressure control.
