External Quality Assurance for Heparin Monitoring
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2012Although there is considerable debate regarding the usefulness of laboratory heparin monitoring, these test processes reflect a substantial portion of hemostasis laboratory activity. Accordingly, external quality assurance (EQA) remains an essential component of such testing, and ensures that laboratories provide the best available service for patient ...

Distinguishing population processes by external monitoring
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2003From the paper: Construction of models is the most basic activity in science, lying at the heart of understanding, prediction and practical applications. Uncovering the dominant mechanisms governing the deterministic evolution of nonlinear dynamical systems is an essential component of this activity. These systems are known to exhibit a wide variety of

Cosmotron External Beam Monitor
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1958A device of sufficiently low density so that it could be ieft in the beam for continuous monitoring by the Cosmotron operators is described. The device is an 8-in.-diam. ionization chamber with Mylar walls. One wall is coated with Al and the other has a silk-screened silver mosaic of 64 spots.

Monitoring Batch Processes Using External Information
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000Abstract Batch process monitoring is usually performed based on empirical models of batch process data obtained from normal operation batch-runs. Such models may be improved by incorporating external information explicitly. Two types of external information are discussed: batch-run specific and process specific information.
