Monitoring Batch Processes Using External Information
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000Abstract Batch process monitoring is usually performed based on empirical models of batch process data obtained from normal operation batch-runs. Such models may be improved by incorporating external information explicitly. Two types of external information are discussed: batch-run specific and process specific information.

Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2021
Ambulatory external electrocardiography (AECG) monitoring is effective as an evidence-based diagnostic tool when suspicion for cardiac arrhythmia is high. Multiple modalities of AECG monitoring exist, with unique advantages and limitations that predict effectiveness in a variety of clinical settings.

Self and External Monitoring of Weight
Psychological Reports, 1978Subjects were 23 obese men and women who received a behavioral weight control program and were randomly assigned to one of two experimental conditions: (1) subjects were weighed at the beginning of each treatment session and were encouraged to weigh themselves at home for “continuous feedback” or (2) subjects were not weighed at group meetings and ...

A new quantitative external monitoring technique
The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1966Abstract A new external monitoring technique is described for measuring the amount of radioactivity within an internal organ. The variable distance between the detector and target organ or area is calculated trigonometrically by using two matched probes which are adjusted to register the same maximal level of activity coming from the source.

External Behavior Monitoring Mirrors Internal Behavior Monitoring
Journal of Psychophysiology, 2005Abstract: The discovery of mirror neurons in monkeys has reshaped thinking about how the brain processes observed actions. There is growing evidence that these neurons, which show similar firing patterns for action execution and observation, also exist in humans.

External quality assessment (EQA) for CoaguChek monitors
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2010SummaryAnticoagulant control facilities are being overwhelmed by requests for monitoring and large numbers of patients are not therefore receiving treatment. Procedures designed for point-of-care testing have therefore been developed, the most popular being the CoaguChek.

External Dosimetry and Personnel Monitoring
Health Physics, 2005The early history of our profession, as well as the discoveries that form its foundations, provide an interesting background on which to assess our progress in measuring exposure to ionizing radiation (i.e., dosimetry). One of the first challenges faced by scientists working with radiation and radioactivity was appropriate measurement techniques.

External Ground Monitoring v. Receiver Monitoring
Journal of Navigation, 1991The transmissions from GPS and GLONASS navigation satellites include information about the state of those transmissions as perceived by the control centre. In the case of GPS, for example, this information is contained in the data stream in Subframe 1 Word 3.
