External Quality Assessment of Serum Alpha-Fetoprotein Assays

Annals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 1980
Adequate control of performance in immunoassays of maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein is an essential part of screening for neural tube defects. Information derived from external quality assessment schemes may be of limited value in monitoring individual laboratory performance and stresses the need for proper internal quality control.

External Quality Assessment Schemes for Immunoassays

1981
Radioimmunoassays (RIAs) are complex and expensive procedures, yet when properly performed they yield information which has much greater clinical value than most of the simpler analyses in clinical chemistry. Thus, assays of T3, T4 and TSH together provide a very precise measure of the status of the pituitary—thyroid axis; in so doing, they replace ...

An External Quality Assessment Scheme for Total Bilirubin

Annals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 1988
A regional quality assessment scheme for total bilirubin methods is described. The scheme provides liquid sera at three concentrations and allows method linearity to be assessed. The sera were shown to be adequately stable over the periods of assessment.

External quality assessment of prothrombin time: The split‐sample model compared with external quality assessment with commercial control material

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2006
CoaguChek S is a point-of-care, whole-blood, prothrombin time monitor. The purpose of this study was to compare two different methods for external quality assessments of CoaguChek S.In the traditional external quality assessment scheme, commercial control material was sent to office laboratories and the results were compared with a method-specific ...
