External Quality Assessment Schemes for Immunoassays

2013
External quality assessment schemes (EQAS) provide an important means of monitoring the quality of the performance of immunoassays in the field. Set up by external bodies and complementing internal quality control procedures, they enable ongoing comparison of individual laboratory results, both with independently established target values and with ...

External quality assessment for immunohistochemistry: experiences from NordiQC

Biotechnic & Histochemistry, 2015
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is applied routinely in surgical and clinical pathology, because it is essential for diagnosis and sub-classification of many neoplastic lesions. Despite its extensive use for more than 40 years, lack of standardization is a major problem; many factors during the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases affect ...

External Quality Assessment Schemes for Immunoassays

1981
Radioimmunoassays (RIAs) are complex and expensive procedures, yet when properly performed they yield information which has much greater clinical value than most of the simpler analyses in clinical chemistry. Thus, assays of T3, T4 and TSH together provide a very precise measure of the status of the pituitary—thyroid axis; in so doing, they replace ...

An External Quality Assessment Scheme for Total Bilirubin

Annals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 1988
A regional quality assessment scheme for total bilirubin methods is described. The scheme provides liquid sera at three concentrations and allows method linearity to be assessed. The sera were shown to be adequately stable over the periods of assessment.

Harmonization and external quality assessment of antithrombin activity assays

Thrombosis Research, 2012
In the framework of a Dutch project named "Calibration 2000" harmonization of antithrombin activity assays was studied. The commutability of potential calibrators for antithrombin was assessed by means of a twin-study design, which is a multicentre, split-patient sample, between-field-methods protocol.

External quality assessment of prothrombin time: The split‐sample model compared with external quality assessment with commercial control material

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2006
CoaguChek S is a point-of-care, whole-blood, prothrombin time monitor. The purpose of this study was to compare two different methods for external quality assessments of CoaguChek S.In the traditional external quality assessment scheme, commercial control material was sent to office laboratories and the results were compared with a method-specific ...

External quality assessment data analysis by microcomputer

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 1987
Microcomputers are now widely used in clinical laboratories because of their low price and the availability of a wide variety of software that can be adapted to the users' requirements. The continuously increasing numbers of patients, tests and the use of automation are additional factors which emphasize the need for computers. A microcomputer software

External Quality Assessment Schemes: need for recognised requirements

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2001
Programs for Accreditation of clinical laboratories consider participation in External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) a key element in the evaluation of testing procedures and improving them. One of the main functions of EQAS is to assess whether laboratories perform tests competently.

Assessing quality on the Sigma scale from proficiency testing and external quality assessment surveys

Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM), 2015
AbstractThere is a need to assess the quality being achieved for laboratory examinations that are being utilized to support evidence-based clinical guidelines. Application of Six Sigma concepts and metrics can provide an objective assessment of the current analytical quality of different examination procedures.A “Sigma Proficiency Assessment Chart” can

Assessment of Internal and External Quality of Fruits and Vegetables [PDF]

open access: possible, 2016
In this chapter, advances in the most important imaging techniques that can be applied to fruit and vegetable inspection are addressed. The review begins with the external inspection, dominated by the use of computer vision, which analyses morphological features and surface attributes.
