Pleistocene preserve: a population growth problem of mammoth proportions
A number of processes that involve large numbers are critical to civic scientific literacy, including many biological topics. Understanding the basic causes of such large-scale processes, such as population growth, speciation, and extinction, are key to ...

Dynamics Analysis of a Stochastic Hybrid Logistic Model with Delay and Two-Pulse Perturbations
In this paper, we propose and discuss a stochastic logistic model with delay, Markovian switching, Lévy jump, and two-pulse perturbations. First, sufficient criteria for extinction, nonpersistence in the mean, weak persistence, persistence in the mean ...

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Societal extinction of species
The ongoing global biodiversity crisis not only involves biological extinctions, but also the loss of experience and the gradual fading of cultural knowledge and collective memory of species. We refer to this phenomenon as ‘societal extinction of species’

Extinction risk of European bryophytes predicted by bioclimate and traits
Extinction risk is not randomly distributed among species but depends on species traits, their relationship to climate and land use, and corresponding threats by global change.
