Mode‐dependent Far‐field Radiation of Circularly Polarized Light by a Single Plasmonic Nanohelix

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
The numerical simulations explored the chiroptical response and far‐field radiation behaviors of single plasmonic nanoantennas transitioning into helical structures. This study highlights the ability of these plasmonic nanohelices to regulate the far‐field directionality of radiation power and circular polarization in plasmon‐exciton coupled systems ...

The Influence of the Supporting Substrate on Single‐Particle Circular Differential Scattering of DNA Assembled Nanorod Dimers

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
For most microscopy measurements the sample is placed on a substrate, which causes symmetry breaking, especially relevant for chiral plasmonic nanostructures. DNA origami mediated X‐shaped AuNR dimers showing high structural purity in solution, exhibit significant diversity in lineshapes and signal intensities for their circular differential scattering

Size Effect on Photothermal Heating Ability of Gold Bipyramids

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Gold bipyramids with identical spectral characteristics exhibits opposite volume‐dependent photo‐thermal heating at single‐particle versus collective scales. The thermal energy can be used to generate mechanical work by powering Stirling engine. Abstract Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) exhibit photothermal properties that are fundamental to biomedical and ...

Excitation of Quasi‐Bound States in the Continuum With Focused Radially Polarized Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an innovative strategy for exciting symmetry‐protected quasi‐bound states in the continuum in periodic arrays of nanostructures using focused radially polarized light beams. Compared to excitation with a tilted plane wave, this approach can achieve both higher quality factors and stronger optical responses.
