Numerical study on extinction performance of Ag nanoparticles@ SiO2 ellipsoid

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
A new composite nanostructure, placing two circle Ag nanoparticles (NPs) on the surface of a SiO2 ellipsoid nanoparticle (abbreviated as AgNPs@SE), was established to analyze the extinction spectra using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.

A rapid method to derive horizontal distributions of trace gases and aerosols near the surface using multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2014
We apply a novel experimental procedure for the rapid measurement of the average volume mixing ratios (VMRs) and horizontal distributions of trace gases such as NO2, SO2, and HCHO in the boundary layer, which was recently suggested by Sinreich et al ...

Inverse Design of Nanoparticulate Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inverse design shifts nanomaterial development from empirical trial‐and‐error to predictive model‐driven strategies. It can rely on knowledge‐based, data‐based, or hybrid process and property functions. This perspective article provides a practical framework for applying inverse design based on instructive examples. It discusses which modeling approach

Ionic Liquid (IL) Compatibilization of Macropore‐Infused Nanocomposite Emulsion Thermosets (MINETs) for Structural Ion Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Macropore‐infused nanocomposite emulsion thermosets (MINETs) offer tunable multifunctionality due to their incorporation of structural resin, functional nanoparticles, and working fluid stabilized by surfactant. Here we show that if ionic liquid working fluids are introduced, structural capacitive (conductive particles) or separator (insulating ...

Antibody‐Precomplexed Hemagglutinin Constructs Multivalently Bind Sialylated Glycan Receptors with Variable Valencies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Hemagglutinin precomplexation with antibodies (Abs) results in broad valency distributions, though it increases the total avidity from mM to nM to high nM. The valency distribution and the orientation of multivalent HA‐Ab complexes determine the extent of binding to different types of assays, whether the receptors are displayed in 2D or 3D.

Dielectric Permittivity Tensor of Muscovite for Next Generation All Van Der Waals Broadband Photonic Components

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐index and low‐loss vdW muscovite represents an emerging robust dielectric platform for the creation of next‐generation all‐vdW nanophotonic architectures. Its utilization as a low‐index building‐block in all‐vdW multilayers enables extreme optical contrast when paired with MoS2, paving the way to the realization of few‐layer ultrathin DBS ...

Demonstration of extrinsic chirality in self-assembled asymmetric plasmonic metasurfaces and nanohole arrays

open access: yesScientific Reports
Chirality, the lack of mirror symmetry, can be mimicked in nanophotonics and plasmonics by breaking the symmetry in light-nanostructure interaction. Here we report on versatile use of nanosphere lithography for the fabrication of low-cost metasurfaces ...

Large‐Area Flat Optics Color Routing in Tilted Arrays of 2D Semiconductor Nanostripes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a scalable flat optics platform exploiting self‐organised ion‐beam sputtering and maskless glancing‐angle deposition to fabricate centimetre‐scale arrays of tilted MoS2 nanostripes. The engineered geometry activates Rayleigh anomalies, guided modes, and Mie resonances, enabling highly directional color routing and enhanced light harvesting ...

Visible‐Blind Near‐Infrared Organic Vision Sensors for Imaging in Adverse Environmental Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents high‐performance visible‐blind NIR OPDs enabled by a multilayer optical modulation layer. The devices achieve strong visible‐light suppression and enhanced NIR sensitivity, enabling robust imaging in foggy or low‐light environments.
