Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in the Prognosis of Sepsis: A Current Update
Sepsis is a dysregulated host response to an infection characterized by the presence of coagulopathy and endothelial dysfunction. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are networks of extracellular fibers, primarily composed of DNA from neutrophils that ...

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Antigen processing for MHC class II presentation via autophagy
T cells recognize proteolytic fragments of antigens that are presented to them on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. MHC class I molecules present primarily products of proteasomal proteolysis to CD8+ T cells, while MHC class II molecules ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Interleukin-10 regulates fetal extracellular matrix hyaluronan production [PDF]
Mid-gestational (E14.5) fetal wounds heal regeneratively with attenuated inflammation and high levels of hyaluronan (HA) in their extracellular matrix (ECM), whereas late-gestational (E18.5) fetal wounds heal with scarring. IL-10 plays an essential role in the fetal regenerative phenotype and is shown to recapitulate scarless wound healing postnatally.
