High CO2-tolerance oxygen permeation dual-phase membranes Ce0.9Pr0.1O2-δ-Pr0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Al0.2O3-δ [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Compounds 806 (2019) 500-509, 2019
High stability and oxygen permeability are two prominent requirements for the oxygen transport membrane candidates used as industrialization. Herein, we report several composite membranes based on xwt.%Ce0.9Pr0.1O2(CPO)-(100-x)wt.%Pr0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Al0.2O3(PSFAO) (x = 50, 60 and 75) prepared via a modified Pechini method.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

open access: yesMedical Journal of Australia, 2009
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a technique that involves oxygenation of blood outside the body, and provides support to selected patients with severe respiratory or cardiac failure. The two major ECMO modalities are venoarterial and venovenous.

Cannulation in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation [PDF]

open access: yesCritical Care, 2014
We sincerely appreciate the studies performed about mobilization in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients [1]. An increasing number of studies can be seen recently in this very challenging group of patients. Mobilizing an ECMO patient is a complicated task to due to surrounding equipment and the nature of cannulations [2,3].

Analysis of risk factors associated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation after surgical repair of peripheral pulmonary artery stenosesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open, 2023
Objective: Acute lung injury is a known complication of pulmonary artery reconstruction for peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis. Severe cases may require support with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

The model of stress distribution in polymer electrolyte membrane [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of The Electrochemical Society, 160 (10) F1129-F1137 (2013), 2014
An analytical model of mechanical stress in a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) of a hydrogen/air fuel cell with porous Water Transfer Plates (WTP) is developed in this work. The model considers a mechanical stress in the membrane is a result of the cell load cycling under constant oxygen utilization.

Hybrid extracorporeal membrane oxygenation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease, 2018
Veno-venous (VV) and veno-arterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy is widely used in critically ill patients with refractory cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest or suffering from severe respiratory failure. Besides traditional ECMO cannulation, changes in patients' conditions or the occurrence of specific complications (i.e ...

Successful long-term extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for invasive pulmonary aspergillosis: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2017
Background Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is an established life-saving procedure for severe acute respiratory failure due to various causes. In general, the duration of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ranges from 1 to 2 weeks, with withdrawal ...

Medical needle tip tracking based on Optical Imaging and AI [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Deep needle insertion to a target often poses a huge challenge, requiring a combination of specialized skills, assistive technology, and extensive training. One of the frequently encountered medical scenarios demanding such expertise includes the needle insertion into a femoral vessel in the groin.

The Australia and New Zealand Congenital Outcomes Registry for Surgery (ANZCORS): methodology and preliminary results

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, Volume 92, Issue 12, Page 3154-3161, December 2022., 2022
Analysis of multi‐institutional data and benchmarking is an accepted accreditation standard in cardiac surgery. Such a database does not exist for congenital cardiac surgery in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). To fill this gap, the ANZ Congenital Outcomes Registry for Surgery (ANZCORS) was established in 2017.
