ABSTRACT Instrumental characterisation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), responsible for off‐aroma, is mainly centred on gas chromatography‐based techniques. Despite previous reviews that have addressed the chemical compounds and biosynthetic pathways of off‐aroma generation, to date, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that critically ...

Phosphorus in Finnish soils in the 1900s with particular reference to the acid ammonium acetate soil test [PDF]
Comprehensive research into phosphorus (P) in soils and crops began in Finland in the early 1900s. The average amount of total P in the ploughed topsoil layer of mineral soils was about two tonnes per hectare in the 1930s, before the abundant use of ...

ABSTRACT A 2‐year field experiment (2022–2023) was conducted on a clay loam soil in Quebec, Canada, to evaluate the short‐term effect of spring‐seeded cover crop termination methods on soil health indicators. A mixture of field peas (Pisum sativum L.) with oats (Avena sativa L.) in 2022 and with faba beans (Vicia faba L.) in 2023 was seeded in early ...

Extractibilityof Residual Rock and Superphosphate on Limed and Unlimed Bungor Soil. [PDF]
The possibility of using soil extractants to monitor the transformation of phosphorus (P) fertilizer on a Bungor series soil was investigated. Three soil extractants - Bray 2, Ammonium acetate lactate (AAL) and Olsen - were evaluated.

Sorghum Protein: Ethanol‐Based Extraction to Improve Yield and Properties
A key barrier to expanding the use of sorghum‐based proteins is the challenge related to protein extraction and utilization via conventional methods. This work evaluated a blended solvent approach (ethanol:alkali) for protein extraction from ground, pearled sorghum and wet‐milled sorghum protein meal to improve yield and properties.

This work provides an effective strategy for selectively extracting 212Pb and 212Bi from the decay chain of 232Th as well as its mechanism illustration. Using the novel strategy, 2.07 MBq of 212Pb is successfully separated from 232Th and its daughters, which enables the supply of 212Pb/212Bi directly from the abundant natural thorium resource to be ...

An appraisal of nutrient supplies available for tree growth in a pumice soil [PDF]
Chemical analyses have confirmed and explained the results of an earlier pot trial in which the availability of major nutrients in six pumice ash layers of Kaingaroa silty sand was assessed by the growth of radiata pine seedlings. Almost all of the tree-
