The stability constants of the chloro complexes of copper(II) and zinc(II) determined by tri-n-octylamine extraction

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1977
Abstract The activity coefficient of tri- n -octylamine (TOA) hydrochloride in benzene has been determined by a vapour pressure method and has been used in calculating the stability constants of the aqueous complexes of copper(II) and zinc(II) in hydrochloric acid solution from extraction experiments with TOA in benzene.

Trace Metal Complexation by Fulvic Acid Extracted from Sewage Sludge: I. Determination of Stability Constants and Linear Correlation Analysis

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1981
Abstract The complexes formed between either Cd 2+ or Pb 2+ and fulvic acid extracted from sewage sludge mixtures were investigated by potentiometric titration of K/H fulvate with either Cd(ClO 4

Complexation Capacity and Conditional Stability Constants for Copper of Sea- and Estuarine Waters, Sediment Extracts and Colloids

1984
Trace metals in the environment occur in a variety of forms in solution, in colloids and particulates. Speciation studies try to distinguish between different dissolved forms (valence state, ionic, (in)organic complexed). Speciation has become important in studies concerning transport processes and the fate of trace elements. The toxic effects of trace

The Influence of Alkyl Chain Length and Steric Effect on the Stability Constants and Extractability of Co(II) Complexes with 1-Alkyl-2-Methylimidazoles

Separation Science and Technology, 2014
Using the liquid-liquid partition method, the formation of Co(II) complexes with 1-alkyl-2-methylimidazoles (where alkyl = C4H9 trough C12H25) at 25°C and at a fixed ionic strength of the aqueous phase (I = 0.5, (HL)NO3, KNO3) were studied. Dichloromethane, trichloromethane, and 2-ethylhexanol were used as diluents.

The stability constants of the aqueous chloro complexes of divalent zinc, cadmium and mercury determined by solvent extraction with tri-n-octylphosphine oxide

Hydrometallurgy, 1980
Abstract The extraction of divalent zinc, cadmium and mercury from aqueous solutions containing lithium chloride using tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in benzene has been investigated. By applying the trial and error method of least-squares analysis to the equilibrium equation, M2+ (aq) + 2Cl− (aq) + 2TOPO (org) ⇆ MCl2 · 2TOPO (org), for these ...

The Influence of the Alkyl Chain Length and Steric Effect on Stability Constants and Extractability of Co(II) Complexes with 1‐Alkyl‐4(5)‐methylimidazoles

Separation Science and Technology, 2006
Abstract Extraction of Co(II) complexes has been studied with nine derivatives of 1‐alkyl‐4(5)‐methylimidazoles (with R=C2H3 to C10H21) from aqueous solution [I=0.5(KNO3) at 25°C] with toluene, trichloromethane, and 2‐ethyl‐1‐hexanol. Stability constants of the complexes formed in the aqueous phase (β c ) as well as partition constants (P c ) of the ...

High selectivity, capacity and stability for electrochemical lithium extraction on boron-doped H1.6Mn1.6O4 by tailoring lattice constant and intercalation energy

Water Research
A sustainable supply of lithium from salt-lake brines is necessary due to the surge in demand of the lithium-battery market. However, the presence of coexisting ions, particularly Na+, poses a significant challenge due to the similarities in charge, electronic structure, and hydrated size.

Stability constants and free energies of complexation of metal-ion cryptates in nitromethane. Derived parameters for the extraction of cations by cryptand 222 from water to pure nitromethane

Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1985
Stability constants have been measured and free energies of complexation of alkali-metal and silver cations in nitromethane at 298 K have been derived. The results obtained in this solvent are compared with corresponding data in different reaction media. Free energies of transfer of metal-ion cryptates from water to nitromethane are derived.
