Decay Constants of Beauty Mesons from QCD Sum Rules

open access: yes, 2014
Our recently completed analysis of the decay constants of both pseudoscalar and vector beauty mesons reveals that in the bottom-quark sector two specific features of the sum-rule predictions show up: (i) For the input value of the bottom-quark mass in ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Calibration of the NuSTAR High Energy Focusing X-ray Telescope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present the calibration of the \textit{Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array} (\nustar) X-ray satellite. We used the Crab as the primary effective area calibrator and constructed a piece-wise linear spline function to modify the vignetting response ...

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Sine-Gordon Revisited

open access: yes, 1999
We study the sine-Gordon model in two dimensional space time in two different domains. For beta > 8 pi and weak coupling, we introduce an ultraviolet cutoff and study the infrared behavior.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Studies on the Sulfur-containing Chelating Agents. XXXIX. Determination of Stability Constants of Some Metal Complexes of N-Phenyl-and N-Ethyl-β-mercaptocinnamamide and Thiodibenzoyl-methane by Solvent Extraction Method

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1974
Stability constants and extraction constants of some metal complexes of N-phenyl-β-mercaptocinnamamide (I), N-ethyl-β-mercaptocinnamamide (II) and thiodibenzoylmethane (III) were determined by solvent extraction method in chloroform and isoamyl acetate systems.

Reconstruction of a random phase dynamics network from observations

open access: yes, 2017
We consider networks of coupled phase oscillators of different complexity: Kuramoto-Daido-type networks, generalized Winfree networks, and hypernetworks with triple interactions.

Co-oxidation kinetic model for the thermal oxidation of polyethylene-unsaturated substrate systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The thermal oxidation of polyethylene (PE) impregnated by the methyl esters of unsaturated fatty acids (UFEs) was studied using chemiluminescence, and infra-red spectrophotometry.
