An efficient algorithm for the extraction of a Euclidean skeleton

IIEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
The skeleton is essential for general shape representation but the discrete representation of an image presents a lot of problems that may influence the process of skeleton extraction. Some of the methods are memory-intensive and computationally intensive, and require a complex data structure.

Efficient Extraction of High-Betweenness Vertices

2010 International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining, 2010
Centrality measures are crucial in quantifying the roles and positions of vertices in networks. An important measure is betweenness, which is based on the number of shortest paths that vertices fall on. However, betweenness is computationally expensive to derive, resulting in much research on efficient techniques. We note that in many applications, the

An efficient and accurate algorithm for extracting a skeleton

Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002
In this paper, a non-iterative method is proposed, which is fast, efficient, and more importantly, is robust to boundary noise and rotation. Unnecessary branches and hairs can be reduced by the adjustment of the residual distance and the skeleton can be represented in a hierarchical manner.

An efficient approach for hierarchical submodule extraction

2004 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37512), 2004
The growth of modern IC design complexity leads the consistency checks and design verification during every level in design flow to be an important and challenged issue. We propose an efficient approach to rebuild the hierarchial level from low level circuits.

Measurement of Extraction Efficiency and Excitation Efficiency of Lasers

Journal of Modern Optics, 1988
Abstract A new method permits the determination of diffraction losses, scattering losses and small-signal gain from the time delay between starting the pumping and onset of laser oscillation. Combined with a measurement of output power, this method provides extraction efficiency and excitation efficiency, and this detailed knowledge of all parameters ...

Efficient Foreground Layer Extraction in Video

2010
Extracting foreground moving objects from video sequences is an important task and also a hot topic in computer vision and image processing. Segmentation results can be used in many object-based video applications such as object-based video coding, content-based video retrieval, intelligent video surveillance, video-based human-computer interaction ...

Efficient Module Extraction for Large Ontologies

2013
Modularity of ontologies has gained importance due to its application in ontology reasoning, ontology reuse and other areas of ontology engineering. One technique for extracting modules is by using Atomic Decomposition (AD). This paper uses MGS-Labels (Minimal Globalising Signatures) to improve the state-of-the-art approach which uses MSS-Labels ...
