A comparative study of extradural anesthesia using 0.75% ropivacaine, 0.75% ropivacaine with fentanyl, and 0.75% ropivacaine with buprenorphine for cesarean section from a rural teaching hospital in India

open access: yesJournal of Obstetric Anaesthesia and Critical Care, 2014
Context: The study was to compare the analgesic efficacy of three different epidural solutions - ropivacaine, ropivacaine fentanyl mixture, and ropivacaine buprenorphine mixture - for cesarean section.

Extradural Lumbosacral Cavernous Hemangioma

open access: yes, 2004
Purely extradural cavernous hemangiomas of the spinal canal are extremely rare. Their occurrence at the lumbosacral level is a true exception. We describe a case of lumbosacral extradural hemangioma and review the behaviour and MR imaging characteristics

Spinal extradural arachnoid cyst

open access: yes, 2006
Spinal extradural arachnoid cysts are rare expanding lesions in the spinal canal. They usually present with progressive signs and symptoms caused by spinal cord compression if they enlarge. A comprehensive review about spinal extradural arachnoid cyst is

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

Case Report: Mycobacterial epidural pyogranulomatous steatitis in a cat

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
A 2-year-old neutered male domestic short-haired cat was presented with chronic spinal hyperesthesia and a 24-h acute progression to non-ambulatory, non-painful tetraparesis, consistent with a C1-T2 myelopathy.

Accidental knotting and subsequent removal of a catheter from the epidural space in an adult cow: a case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2017
Key Clinical Message This is the first reported case in the veterinary literature of a knot in an epidural catheter. The report reviews this very rare complication and describes options for investigation and retrieval of catheters entrapped in the ...

EXTRADURAL ABSCESS COMPLICATING EXTRADURAL ANAESTHESIA FOR CAESAREAN SECTION

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1992
Extradural abscess has been described infrequently as a complication of extradural anaesthesia and analgesia. We describe an abscess that developed 5 days after operation in a patient who had extradural anaesthesia for Caesarean section and postoperative analgesia, and review the literature on extradural abscess complicating extradural catheterization,

Targeting Dnmt3a/m5C/RelA Axis Attenuates Microglia Inflammatory Response and Improves Postoperative Recovery in Chronic Compressive Cervical Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pro‐inflammatory microglial subset persists after decompression in chronic compressive cervical spinal cord injury and shows enhanced Dnmt3a‐driven m5C signaling. By stabilizing RelA mRNA, this axis sustains NF‐κB activation and postoperative neuroinflammation.

EFFECT OF EXTRADURAL COMPLIANCE AND RESISTANCE ON SPREAD OF EXTRADURAL ANALGESIA

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1990
We have studied the effect of extradural compliance and extradural resistance on the spread of extradural analgesia. In 111 patients aged 21-75 yr, compliance and resistance of the extradural space were calculated by a mathematical analysis (using the Windkessel theory) of the extradural pressure-response curve to injection of a given volume of local ...
