The positivity bounds, derived from the axiomatic principles of quantum field theory (QFT), constrain the signs of Wilson coefficients and their linear combinations in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT).

Existence of extremal Beltrami coefficients with nonconstant modulus [PDF]
AbstractSuppose that [μ]T(Δ)is a point of the universal Teichmüller spaceT(Δ). In 1998, Božin, Lakic, Marković, and Mateljević showed that there existsμsuch thatμis uniquely extremal in [μ]T(Δ)and has a nonconstant modulus. It is a natural problem whether there is always an extremal Beltrami coefficient of constant modulus in [μ]T(Δ)if [μ]T(Δ)admits ...

Complex Networks Reveal Heatwave Patterns and Propagations Over the USA
Quantifying the dynamical linkage, co‐evolution, and propagation of regional heatwaves is essential to minimize socio‐economic losses. Here, we investigate such network structure and propagation characteristics for warm period (May–September) heatwaves ...

Extreme coefficients of multiplicity Tutte polynomials
The multiplicity Tutte polynomial, which includes the arithmetic Tutte polynomial, is a generalization of the classical Tutte polynomial of matroids. In this paper, we obtain an expression of the general coefficient and the expressions of six extreme coefficients of multiplicity Tutte polynomials. In particular, an expression of the general coefficient

Asymptotically extremal polynomials with respect to varying weights and application to Sobolev orthogonality [PDF]
9 pages, no figures.-- MSC2000 code: 33C45.MR#: MR2431543 (2009g:41009)Zbl#: Zbl 1155.33006We study the asymptotic behavior of the zeros of a sequence of polynomials whose weighted norms, with respect to a sequence of weight functions, have the same $n ...

ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Extreme value theory for moving average processes with light-tailed innovations [PDF]
We consider stationary infinite moving average processes of the form $Y_n = \sum c_i Z_{n+i}$, where the sum ranges over the integers, (Z_i) is a sequence of iid random variables with ``light tails'' and (c_i) is a sequence of positive and summable ...
