Increasing Upper EXTREMITY FUNCTION

AJN, American Journal of Nursing, 1964
The use of our hands is vital to physical accomplishments and intricately interwoven into our ability to communicate. We especially reveal feelings with our hands: the clenched fist of anger, the nervous fingers of tension, the touch of a hand in tenderness.

On the Extremals of a Functional on the Plane

Differential Equations, 2004
The existence of extremals for an integral functional is considered. The extremals of the functional considered are solutions of some boundary value problem. Under certain assumptions, the existence of a solution to the boundary value problem is proved.

An extremal property of the Mbius function

Archiv der Mathematik, 1989
For a squarefree positive integer N the authors study sums of the form \(R(x)=\sum_{t| N}\vartheta_ t\{x\cdot t\}\) (where \(\vartheta_ t\) are arbitrary complex numbers and \(\{\alpha \}=\alpha -[\alpha]\) as usual) and establish a lower bound for the mean square \(Q_ R=\int^{1}_{0}| R(x)|^ 2 dx\).

Assessment of Upper Extremity Function

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2019
Assessment of upper extremity function either before or after surgical treatment has been a rapidly evolving field. A reproducible, accurate, and valid assessment tool provides the ability to compare surgical interventions, evaluate physical therapy regimens, and assess novel assistive and restorative technologies.

CARDIOVASCULAR FUNCTION IN EXTREME OBESITY

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1973
AbstractCardiovascular function in 19 patients with obesity has been studied by electrocardiography (ECG), exercise test, determination of heart and blood volumes, and right heart catheterization. Pathological ECG findings appeared in one patient at rest and during exercise, and in another only during exercise.

Extremal Problems for Eigenvalue Functionals

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1985
We consider the eigenvalues, \(\lambda_ n(\rho)\), of self-adjoint Sturm- Liouville systems to be real valued functionals of certain coefficient functions in the differential equation. We introduce a classical (in general nonlinear) functional K(\(\rho)\) which is tangent to \(\lambda_ n(\rho)\) at a fixed function \(\rho^*\).

Lower Extremity Functional Dynamics

Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, 1988
An overview of the normal and abnormal functional equilibrium of the lower extremity has been presented. The biomechanical and pathomechanical implications of activity and inactivity on this system have been discussed. Special emphasis has been placed on the effects of musculoskeletal imbalances on foot function.

An extremal function for digraph subcontraction

Journal of Graph Theory, 1996
This paper determines, to within a constant factor, the maximum size of a digraph that has no (weak) subcontraction to the complete digraph \(DK_p\) of order \(p\), an analogue of a well-known undirected graph problem. Let \(d(p)\) be defined for positive integers \(p\) by \[ d(p)= \inf\{c; e(D)\geq c|D|\text{ implies } D\succ DK_p\}, \] where \(D ...
