Under the background of global warming, it is of great application value to study extreme precipitation events in four southwestern provinces and cities in China, which are vulnerable to the ecological environment and sensitive to climate change.Based on

Downscaling precipitation extremes [PDF]
A new method for predicting the upper tail of the precipitation distribution, based on empirical–statistical downscaling, is explored. The proposed downscaling method involves a re-calibration of the results from an analog model to ensure that the results have a realistic statistical distribution.

The intensification of extreme precipitation under anthropogenic forcing is robustly projected by global climate models, but highly challenging to detect in the observational record. Large internal variability distorts this anthropogenic signal.

Precipitation Extremes Under Climate Change [PDF]
The response of precipitation extremes to climate change is considered using results from theory, modeling, and observations, with a focus on the physical factors that control the response. Observations and simulations with climate models show that precipitation extremes intensify in response to a warming climate.
