Going to extremes [extreme programming]
Information Professional, 2004Unless your organisation always delivers on time, has low staff turnover and is never surprised by the final cost or quality of its software, there is probably something wrong with the way you develop your products. Our industry has spent several decades trying to resolve this problem and yet a recent survey of 200 software projects showed ongoing ...

Extreme Programming: A Kuhnian Revolution?
2007This paper critically assesses the extent to which the Agile Software community’s use of Thomas Kuhn’s theory of revolutionary scientific change is justified. It will be argued that Kuhn’s concepts of “scientific revolution” and “paradigm shift” cannot adequately explain the change from one type of software methodology to another.

The Impact of eXtreme Programming on Maintenance
2003One of the emerging techniques for managing software project is eXtreme Programming (XP), which surely is changing the way in which we develop and manage software. XP is based on four values and 12 rules that explain how to develop software in an XP-compliant mode. In this chapter, all values and rules are addressed and the XP lifecycle of a project is

Quantitative assessment of extreme programming practices
Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2001. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8555), 2002Some anecdotal evidence demonstrates success of the extreme programming practice in a portion of the software industry. It has also been argued that pair programming, as a part of the extreme programming process, yields higher quality software products in less time.

Extreme Programming: The Genesys Experience
2005This paper attempts to describe the author's experience of working in an XP company, namely Genesys Solutions® and its use of the XP principles. Before understanding how XP is being used in Genesys, the process and the people of the organization must be taken into account.
