Analysis of Uncertainty of Rainfall Frequency Analysis Including Extreme Rainfall Events

open access: yesJournal of Korea Water Resources Association, 2010

Impact of Biomimetic Pinna Shape Variation on Clutter Echoes: A Machine Learning Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Bats with dynamic ear structures navigate dense, echo‐rich environments, yet the echoes they receive are highly random. This study shows that machine learning can reliably detect structural signatures in these seemingly chaotic biosonar signals. The results open new directions for biologically inspired sensing, where time‐varying receiver shapes ...

Brief communication "Climatic covariates for the frequency analysis of heavy rainfall in the Mediterranean region" [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2011
In Mediterranean regions, climate studies indicate for the future a possible increase in the extreme rainfall events occurrence and intensity. To evaluate the future changes in the extreme event distribution, there is a need to provide non-stationary ...

Frequency and Intensity of drought events over Ebro River basin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Lately, several researchers have pointed out that climate change is expected to increase temperatures and lower rainfall in Mediterranean regions, simultaneously increasing the intensity of extreme rainfall events.

BeeRootBot: A Bioinspired Robotic Probe Exhibiting Apical Growth through In Situ Soil Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel method for consolidating subterranean exploration pathways in plant‐inspired robots by binding in‐situ soil with beeswax, a biobased material. This simultaneous advancement and wall‐lining process reduces penetration resistance, enhances exploration efficiency, enables communication and resource sharing, and promotes ...
