Analog Classification of Human Hand Gestures Exploiting Dendritic Integration With an Organic Artificial Soma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An organic neuromorphic architecture for the classification of human motor behavior is presented and validated. It performs somatic integration by linearly combining the activity from three muscles. An investigation of synaptic weights is presented and discussed in relationship with the classification performance.

Extreme-temperature single-particle heat engine [PDF]

open access: yes
There are many exotic thermodynamic processes that are hard to study in nature. Here, we synthesize a structured environment to explore the extremes of thermodynamics. We present an engine running at extreme temperatures of tens of Mega-Kelvin.

Engineering a Fluorinated AlPO4 Interface: Toward High Initial Coulombic Efficiency and Stable Oxygen Redox in Li‐Rich Layered Oxide Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a chemically incorporated fluorinated AlPO4 (AlPO4‐F) architecture that functions as a multifunctional “interfacial fortress” for Li‐rich layered oxides (LLOs). By modulating the surface potential to –32.16 mV, this architecture enriches Li+ concentration and repels detrimental electrolyte anions.

The effect of extreme sports on oxidative stress

open access: yes, 2017
Background & Study Aim: Despite the high risk of extreme sports, participation rates have increased in the last years. Rafting and paragliding are two of the most popular extreme sports.

Unified Pressure and Field Response Across Distinct Charge‐Order Regimes in Ti‐Doped CsV3Sb5

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We microscopically investigate the interplay between charge order and superconductivity in a kagome superconductor across regimes of long‐ and short‐range charge order. Hydrostatic‐pressure and magnetic‐field μSR$\mu{\rm SR}$ measurements reveal remarkably similar superconducting and normal‐state time‐reversal‐symmetry‐breaking responses in both ...

3D‐Printed Gradient Shape‐Memory Strain Sensors With Rewritable Gauge Factors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed shape‐memory strain sensor combines thermomechanical programming with gradient architectural design. Preset strain rewrites the gauge factor (GF), while the gradient geometry amplifies the response through strain redistribution. Reprogrammable sensitivity enables the same sensor to detect weak pulse signals and monitor large‐amplitude ...
