Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

The 1859 space weather event revisited: limits of extreme activity

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate, 2013
The solar flare on 1 September 1859 and its associated geomagnetic storm remain the standard for an extreme solar-terrestrial event. The most recent estimates of the flare soft X-ray (SXR) peak intensity and Dst magnetic storm index for this event are ...

A counterfactual perspective on compound weather risk

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes, 2021
Extreme weather outcomes are a multi-dimensional function of interacting physical processes. Actual compound events correspond to particular specific historical realisations of these coupled processes.

Employment Trajectories of Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Factors Driving Transitions Between States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) significantly impacts employment capacity. This study aimed to investigate the impact of burden of disease activity, damage, and treatment on employment outcomes and transitions in patients with SLE. Methods Using data from a single center, we analyzed employment transitions, adjusted mean disease activity ...

Optical hydrography for seasonal and flood-induced changes in aquatic vegetation [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The increasing occurrence of extreme weather events has a far reaching impact on all types of ecosystems. This includes submerged ecosystems, where floods and droughts influence the flora and fauna.

Factors Associated With Fibromyalgia Diagnosis Among People Meeting Criteria: Results From UK Biobank

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The diagnosis of fibromyalgia (FM) is challenging due to the absence of definitive biomarkers, numerous overlapping comorbidities, and its reliance on patient‐reported symptoms. Discrepancies between diagnostic criteria and clinical practice imply the possibility of diagnostic biases, complicating timely and accurate identification.

Diagnosis and prognosis of extreme precipitation events in the Mexico City Basin [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2003
The number of severe storms (more than 20 mm hr-1 of rainfall) in the Mexico City basin has increased in recent decades. In some parts of the city there is substantially more precipitation than in the past.

Flexural Behavior of 3D‐Printed Porous Bouligand‐Structured Polymers: Influence of Pitch Angle and Porosity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how helicoidal architectures with different porosities respond to bending. Adjusting layer angle and spacing in 3D‐printed polymers reveals clear tradeoffs between stiffness, strength, and energy absorption. Experiments and simulations highlight designs that distribute stress effectively, offering pathways for optimizing lightweight

Are we joining the One Health dots? A scoping review of research on the one health effects of extreme weather events in eastern Australia

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Extreme weather events such as floods, bushfires, cyclones, and drought, are projected to increase in eastern Australia. Understanding how these events influence the combined, sustainable well-being of humans, animals, and ecosystems – that is One Health

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.
