Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Human response to aircraft noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The human auditory system and the perception of sound are discussed. The major concentration is on the annnoyance response and methods for relating the physical characteristics of sound to those psychosociological attributes associated with human ...

Probing anisotropies of gravitational-wave backgroundswith a space-based interferometer II: Perturbative reconstruction of a low-frequency skymap

open access: yes, 2005
We present a perturbative reconstruction method to make a skymap of gravitational-wave backgrounds (GWBs) observed via space-based interferometer. In the presence of anisotropies in GWBs, the cross-correlated signals of observed GWBs are inherently time ...

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Storage and Retrieval of a Squeezed Vacuum

open access: yes, 2008
Storage and retrieval of a squeezed vacuum was successfully demonstrated using electromagnetically induced transparency. 930ns of the squeezed vacuum pulse was incident on the laser cooled 87Rb atoms with an intense control light in a coherent state ...

Nonlinear dance motion analysis and motion editing using Hilbert-Huang transform

open access: yes, 2017
Human motions (especially dance motions) are very noisy, and it is hard to analyze and edit the motions. To resolve this problem, we propose a new method to decompose and modify the motions using the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT). First, HHT decomposes a

Low magnetic noise, easy-to-process polystyrene-grafted amorphous alloy composites for extremely-weak magnetic measurement at ultra-low frequency

open access: yesMaterials Today Advances
Cobalt-based amorphous alloys (Co-MG) demonstrate ultra-high permeability and remarkably-low power loss, positioning them as promising candidates for shielding (near-) static magnetic fields and addressing accuracy limitations in extremely-weak magnetic measurements.

Dynamics of superconducting nanowires shunted with an external resistor

open access: yes, 2012
We present the first study of superconducting nanowires shunted with an external resistor, geared towards understanding and controlling coherence and dissipation in nanowires.
