Application and use of spinal immobilization devices in zero-gravity flight [PDF]

open access: yes
A KC-135 parabolic flight was performed for the purpose of evaluation of spinal immobilization techniques in microgravity. The flight followed the standard 40 parabola profile with four NASA/KRUG experimenters involved.

Performance Constraints of All‐Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells in Low‐Intensity, Low‐Temperature Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐perovskite tandem solar cells are evaluated under low‐intensity and low‐temperature (LILT) conditions relevant to space environments. Distinct loss regimes emerge, where weaker entropic mixing causes halide segragation below ≈240 K going along with a strong current imbalance, while poor electron transport in C60 dominates.

Prehospital spinal and cervical motor restriction in adult trauma patients: a narrative review

open access: yesEmergency Care Journal
The prehospital motor restriction of the cervical and spinal column in trauma patients remains a highly debated topic, with significant variability in clinical practice. With the present study, we aimed to conduct a narrative review of the literature on

Phase‐Change Solvents for Thermally Switchable Ion Conduction in Organogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organogels containing salts dissolved in phase‐change solvents exhibit thermally switchable ion conduction. The organogels, which display an over 10 000‐fold on‐off ratio and high cycling stability, can be synthesized with a wide range of salts and customizable conductivity/temperature relations for applications in ionotronics and energy storage ...

Toward a Consensus Characterization Protocol for Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We advocate a common consensus on accurate and standardized reporting of performance metrics in the field of organic thermoelectrics. We summarize prevalent issues in the literature and propose a pre‐submission checklist to support the publication of reproducible results.

A review on the environmental impact and physiological conditions on the human body during an engulfment, entrapment and extrication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Grain entrapments and engulfments are one of most common hazards associated with grain storage facilities. Since 1970’s over 1000 grain entrapments and engulfments incidents have been documented.
