Material Development and Foam Extrusion Processing of Thermoplastic Starch‐Based Compounds

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the project: a compound material based on thermoplastic starch and PBAT is developed for further processing in the foam extrusion process to achieve a flexible foam sheet with a low density and fine‐pored foam structure. ABSTRACT An investigation into the properties of starch‐based compounds is conducted to determine their ...

Engineering Crosslinker‐Free Sericin–Gelatin Hydrogels With Tunable Rheology for 3D Printing Applications

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Gelatin derived from porcine tissue and sericin extracted from Bombyx mori cocoons are combined to form crosslinker‐free hydrogels with tunable composition, enabling extrusion‐based 3D printing and biocompatible constructs for biomedical applications. ABSTRACT Hydrogels can be processed by 3D printing to manufacture tailor made structures, broadening ...

Polyethylene‐Polyamide‐6 Diblock Copolymers for Fused Filament Fabrication

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Linear HDPE‐PA6 block copolymers were prepared by polymerization of ethylene to a macroinitiator and subsequent anionic caprolactam polymerization. The copolymer with a HDPE mass of 6500 Da and PA6 mass of 20.000 Da was used as a filament in 3D printing.

Comparison of Recycled Polypropylene Sourced From Food and Nonfood Applications for Direct Food Contact Use

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Utilisation of postconsumer recycled (PCR) plastic for food contact has safety concerns due to the potential presence of unapproved intentionally/non‐intentionally added substances, which can pose health and environmental risks if not removed during recycling.

Thermo‐Chemically Modified Silk Scaffolds Reveal Niche‐Driven Regulation of Hematopoiesis and Fibrosis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We introduce a versatile 3D platform that recreates key physical and biological features of the human bone marrow. By integrating tunable silk biomaterials, stromal cells, and human hematopoietic progenitors, the model captures both healthy and diseased microenvironments, analysis of blood formation, and its disruption in pathological conditions ...

Exploring the Impact of Polystyrene Microplastic Beads on Male Gonads of the Marine Mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plastic, with its remarkable versatility and numerous applications, has greatly benefited humanity. However, its extreme resistance to natural degradation means it persists in the environment for long periods, causing global environmental problems.

Polyaniline as a dual flame retardant and electrostatic dissipative additive in polyethylene nanocomposites

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 339-355, March 2025.
Effecft of co‐doping polyaniline with phosphoric acid and phytic acid on the heat release rate of polyethylene. Abstract Polyolefins, such as polyethylene (PE), are highly flammable and electrically insulative, limiting their applicability. The study explored the flame‐retardancy and electrical conductivity of PE/polyaniline (PE/PANI) nanocomposites ...

Effects of feeding almond hulls to light lambs on carcass characteristics and meat quality

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 6, Page 3876-3884, April 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Almond hulls (AH) are the main by‐product of almond processing for human consumption and contain bioactive compounds that can improve meat quality. Although AH are used as feed for dairy cows in some countries, information on their potential effects on meat quality is limited.

Impact of Textile Architecture on the Electromechanical Behavior of Conductive Carbon: Silicone Composite Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 6, 18 March 2026.
A stretchable carbon composite is integrated by stencil printing onto two different types of textile, with different yarn morphologies. The impact of the knit structure and coating direction on the performance of the sensor composite is evaluated and used to derive a model estimating nominal resistance at a given strain near the percolation threshold ...
