Pars plana vitrectomy and laser photocoagulation of vasoproliferative tumors: a new surgical approach to sight-threatening complications [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Oftalmologia
Retinal vasoproliferative tumor is a rare disease associated with several sight-threatening complications. The optimum management of retinal vasoproliferative tumor is unknown and the need of surgery arises when there is diagnostic uncertainty or sight ...

Experimental Transient Exudative Retinal Detachment in the Rat

open access: yesArchives of Ophthalmology, 1994
To establish a new model of exudative retinal detachment in the rat.Photothrombosis was produced in a single retinal vein using direct treatment with a dye laser operating in the yellow wavelength (577 nm). Control eyes received identical laser applications, but treatment was placed alongside the vessel and photothrombosis was not produced.

Adult‐onset Coats disease: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of imaging biomarkers and targeted therapies

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Coats disease diagnosed in adulthood is a rare idiopathic retinal telangiectatic vasculopathy that may differ in phenotype from childhood‐diagnosed cases. This systematic review synthesizes current evidence to characterize its clinical spectrum, imaging features, treatment outcomes and underlying mechanisms, with a focus on immunovascular ...

Optimized Deep Learning Framework for Diabetic Retinopathy Based on Systematic Multi‐Stage Transfer Learning and Predictive Risk Stratification

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
A multi‐stage transfer learning framework systematically optimizes CNN architectures for diabetic retinopathy detection and risk stratification from fundus images. EfficientNetB7 achieves 96% accuracy while a survival‐inspired model generates continuous risk scores aligned with DR severity for clinically meaningful patient risk assessment.

Cryptococcal-related exudative retinal detachment [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 2011
Sir, Cryptococcosis is a common fungal infection in immunocompromized individuals. Frequent sites of involvement include the central nervous system, lung, skin, and eyes. We describe an unusual case of bilateral exudative retinal detachment in a HIV patient with cryptococcal meningitis.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ARGON LASER IN PATIENTS WITH PERIPHERAL RETINAL BREAKS IN PREVENTING RETINAL DETACHMENT

open access: yes, 2023
Retinal detachment is a risk to one's vision that occurs about 1 in 10,000 times. Prior to the 1920s, this disease was completely blinding. Restoration of retinal detachments has been much simpler over the past 50 years thanks to procedures like scleral ...
