Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

A surgical simulator for peeling the inner limiting membrane during wet conditions. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The present study was performed to establish a novel ocular surgery simulator for training in peeling of the inner limited membrane (ILM). This simulator included a next-generation artificial ILM with mechanical properties similar to the natural ILM that

Using eye gaze data to explore student interactions with tutorial dialogues in a substep-based tutor

open access: yes, 2015
Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence 9112We used eye gaze data to investigate student interactions with tutorial dialogues in EER-Tutor. The results show that tutorial dialogues are effective as they enable students to correct their mistakes. However,

Coating Artificial Spider Silk Fiber with Magnetic FeCo: An Effective Strategy for Creating a Flexible Magneto‐Responsive Material

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An original method is presented for producing artificial spider silk fibers with magnetic and magnetomechanical responsiveness, which consists in coating them with a nanometer‐thick layer of FeCo alloy by sputtering deposition. The challenge of combining organic materials and inorganic magnetic nanostructures is addressed, thus taking a step forward ...

Comparative evaluation of efficacy and safety of cyclosporine 0.1% add-on therapy with artificial tears (carboxymethylcellulose 0.5%) with artificial tears alone in post cataract surgery patients

open access: yesNational Journal of Physiology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 2018
Background: Cataract is the most common cause of preventable blindness and to surgically remove the affected lens and replace it with an artificial lens is the only effective treatment. Most patients post cataract surgery, complain of dry eye. Artificial

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

Effects of Lubricating Agents with Different Osmolalities on Tear Osmolarity and Other Tear Function Tests in Patients with Dry Eye [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: To evaluate the effects of different artificial tear eye drops on Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), tear osmolarity, Schirmer's I test, and tear break-up time (TBUT) in patients with dry eye disease.

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...
