Quiet Eye and Computerized Precision Tasks in First-Person Shooter Perspective Esport Games

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
The gaze behavior in sports and other applied settings has been studied for more than 20 years. A common finding is related to the “quiet eye” (QE), predicting that the duration of the last fixation before a critical event is associated with higher ...

Measuring fixation disparity with infrared eye-trackers

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2009
Fixation disparity, that is, misalignment of the gaze direction of both eyes, may be observed in static conditions (through standard optometric evaluation) and dynamic conditions (through eye movement recording). A computation method is presented to determine vergence angles and fixation disparity from gaze positions as commonly recorded by infrared ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Continuous Prediction of Pointing Targets With Motion and Eye-Tracking in Virtual Reality

open access: yesIEEE Access
We present a study on continuously predicting the direction to a pointing target in virtual environments using motion and eye-tracker data throughout the pointing process. We first collect time series data for user motion and eye-tracker in a cursorless,

Retinally stabilized differential resolution television display [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A remote television viewing system employing an eye tracker is disclosed, wherein a small region of the image appears in high resolution, and the remainder of the image appears in low resolution. The eye tracker monitors the position of the viewer's line

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

User Experience (UX) in Eye-Tracker Applications: Obstacles, Alternatives and Examples

open access: yesInteraction Design and Architecture(s)
Many eye-tracker studies exclude individuals with special needs to avoid results’ distortion, while few address its application design. The aim in this study was to identify key challenges in developing eye-tracker applications and explore ...
