Biology. Ecology, Larval Taxonomy, and Distribution of Hydropsychidae (Trichoptera) in Wisconsin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
About 43.000 larvae and 1800 adults of Hydropsychidae from Wisconsin were studied. These included Diplectrona modesta, Macrostemum zebratum, Parapsyche apicalis, Potamyia flava, eight species of Ceratopsyche, and 11 species of Hydropsyche, but because ...

Colorectal Cancer Cells–Derived Exosomal PIK3CA Mutation DNA Promotes Tumor Metastasis by Activating Fibroblast and Affecting Tumor Metastatic Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PIK3CAH1047R DNA in colorectal cancer (CRC) cell‐derived exosomes can be delivered into recipient fibroblasts, where it is transcribed and translated, leading to the activation of fibroblasts into cancer‐associated fibroblasts, which secrete elevated levels of IL6. The simultaneous detection and targeting of PIK3CAH1047R mutation and IL6 may serve as a

Corneal blindness and eye banking: Current strategies and best practices

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2023
Corneal blindness (CB) is one of the leading causes of blindness in India and globally, affecting around 8 million population worldwide. Many of these corneal blind patients may be visually rehabilitated by corneal transplantation (CT). Eye banking plays

Specular Microscopy Data of Cornea Bank Donors at Kartal Training and Research Hospital

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi, 2014
Objective: To evaluate the correlation between donor cornea endothelial cell morphology, epidemiological features of the donor and time of death in terms of necessity of specular microscopy (SM) in eye bank. Materials and Methods: SM data acquired from

Aqueye optical observations of the Crab Nebula pulsar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We observed the Crab pulsar in October 2008 at the Copernico Telescope in Asiago - Cima Ekar with the optical photon counter Aqueye (the Asiago Quantum Eye) which has the best temporal resolution and accuracy ever achieved in the optical domain (hundreds of picoseconds).

Exploring the Effects of 3D Gaze Stimulation and Color Performance in Augmented Reality‐Based Steady‐State Visual Evoked Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study investigates how gaze mode and stimulus brightness affect augmented reality‐based steady‐state visual evoked potentials (AR‐SSVEP) brain‐computer interface (BCI) performance. Experiments with 20 participants show that binocular gaze improves recognition accuracy and stimulus luminance impacts performance.

Bailouts in Financial Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We consider networks of banks with assets and liabilities. Some banks may be insolvent, and a central bank can decide which insolvent banks, if any, to bail out. We view bailouts as an optimization problem where the central bank has given resources at its disposal and an objective it wants to maximize.

Applying Benford’s law to detect accounting data manipulation in the banking industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we take a glimpse at the dark side of bank accounting statements by using a mathematical law which was established by Benford in 1938 to detect data manipulation.

Development and Validation of a Spontaneous Smile Assay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
IMPORTANCE Smiling can be a voluntary or involuntarymovement. Facial reanimation procedures differ in their ability to restore a spontaneous smile, and an assay designed to evoke and evaluate a spontaneous smile is not available. OBJECTIVE To develop and
