A Robust Algorithm for Eye-Diagram Analysis

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2008
We present a new method for analyzing eye diagrams that always provides a unique solution by making use of a robust, least-median-of-squares (LMS) location estimator. In contrast to commonly used histogram techniques, the LMS procedure is insensitive to outliers and data distributions.

Comparative connectomics: Wiring diagram of a miniature insect compound eye

Current Biology, 2023
A new connectomics study of the compound eye of the miniature wasp Megaphragma viggianii highlights how the study of small animals in a comparative framework can give fresh insights into circuit evolution and function.

Maximizing the opening of eye diagrams for slow-light systems

Applied Optics, 2007
We present a data-fidelity metric for quantifying distortion in slow-light optical pulse delay devices. We demonstrate the utility of this metric by applying it to the performance optimization of gain-based slow-light delay systems for Gaussian and super-Gaussian pulses.

Digital operation and eye diagrams in spin-lasers

Applied Physics Letters, 2015
Digital operation of lasers with injected spin-polarized carriers provides an improved operation over their conventional counterparts with spin-unpolarized carriers. Such spin-lasers can attain much higher bit rates, crucial for optical communication systems.

A Statistical Study of De-Embedding Applied to Eye Diagram Analysis

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2012
We describe a stable method for calibrating digital waveforms and eye diagrams by use of the measurement system response function and its regularized inverse. The function describing the system response includes the response of the oscilloscope and any associated cables and test fixtures.

The Image Whole and the Image Eye Diagram [IED]

2011
The work presents a holistic view of the image field, a field that centers on Image Processing. The Image Eye Diagram [IED] has taken shape as a result. The alternative model structure of the Image Puzzle offers a way to facilitate a synthesis of the different fields related to image.

Assessing the Comprehension of UML Class Diagrams via Eye Tracking

15th IEEE International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC '07), 2007
Eye-tracking equipment is used to assess how well a subject comprehends UML class diagrams. The results of a study are presented in which eye movements are captured in a non-obtrusive manner as users performed various comprehension tasks on UML class diagrams.

Evaluation of Traditional, Orthogonal, and Radial Tree Diagrams by an Eye Tracking Study

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2011
Node-link diagrams are an effective and popular visualization approach for depicting hierarchical structures and for showing parent-child relationships. In this paper, we present the results of an eye tracking experiment investigating traditional, orthogonal, and radial node-link tree layouts as a piece of empirical basis for choosing between those ...

Formulation diagrams: Is there more than meets the eye?

Clinical Psychology Forum, 2007
This article aims to invite further debate by suggesting that the format in which formulations are presented will impact upon the way the formulation is understood, reasoned with and used to negotiate meanings in therapy. It is also suggested that thinking about how formulations are presented may be a useful starting point when thinking about ...
