Polarization-Discriminated RSOA–EAM for Colorless Transmitter in WDM–PON

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The integrated reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) and electro-absorption modulator (EAM) is viewed as an appealing solution to the colorless transmitter on the optical network unit (ONU) side of wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM ...

A Statistical Approach for Signal and Power Integrity Co-Design in High-Speed Interconnects Considering Non-Linear Power/Ground Noise and Bit-Patterns

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
In this article, a novel statistical approach is proposed and applied to co-design signal and power integrity (SI/PI) in high-speed interconnects considering the non-linear power/ground noise generated by parallel buffers and bit-patterns. With increased

The Role of Visual Representations in Undergraduate Students’ Learning about Genetic Inheritance

open access: yesEducation Sciences
Prior work has shown that many undergraduate students have misconceptions about genetic inheritance, even after they take genetics courses. Visual representations, such as pedigree diagrams, are commonly used in genetics instruction, and they help ...

A Hybrid Methodology for Jitter and Eye Estimation in High-Speed Serial Channels Using Polynomial Chaos Surrogate Models

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Estimation of jitter and eye diagram in high-speed serial channels can be challenging. The existing methods might fail to show inter-symbol interference (ISI) and data dependent jitter because they are either excessively time consuming or only applicable

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
