Magnesium‐Based Transient Bioelectronics, Bio‐Optics and Bio‐Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper reviews the state of the art and recent advances in magnesium‐based thin‐film, foils, and scaffolds for applications in transient bio‐optics, bioelectronics and tissue engineering. The design principles, fabrication methods, material properties, and integration strategies are discussed in detail.

A "site" for sore eyes

open access: yesSouth African Family Practice, 2018
It is known that not all red eyes are caused by infections. Furthermore, not all eye infections will react to antibiotic eye drops. Most cases of conjunctivitis are due to viral causes, do not require antibiotic eye drops and are usually self-limiting ...

Electrostatically‐Stabilized PEG‐Free Lipid Nanoparticles for Systemic Nucleic Acid Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes non‐PEGylated layered lipid nanoparticles (nonPEG LLNPs), a gene delivery platform that improves upon standard PEGylated LNPs via electrostatic adsorption of charged polymers. nonPEG LLNPs maintain colloidal stability under biological stresses, enhance circulation time, and mitigate accelerated blood clearance and hepatic ...

When culture-based whole-genome sequencing can change management in severe ocular bacterial infections

open access: yesmBio
Nationwide multicenter surveillance demonstrates a substantial burden of antimicrobial resistance among ocular bacterial pathogens. In the 2009–2018 ARMOR collection, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) accounted for 34.9% of S.

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.

Infections of the eye.

open access: yesSingapore medical journal, 1996
Infections of the eye range from the mild to the severe. They may affect the lid, conjunctiva, cornea, lacrimal apparatus, vitreous, orbit or retina. Common presentations, diagnostic methods and treatment are briefly described. The doctor should not only manage outpatients appropriately, but know when to seek the advice of the ophthalmologist when ...

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–
