Nystagmus as a Sign of Labyrinthine Disorders-Three-Dimensional Analysis of Nystagmus- [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology, 2008
In order to diagnose the pathological condition of vertiginous patients, a detailed observation of nystagmus in addition to examination of body equilibrium and other neurotological tests are essential.

Central Dysmyelination in SSADH‐Deficient Humans and Mice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADHD) is an inherited metabolic disorder characterized by an accumulation of γ‐aminobutyric (GABA). In addition to its synaptic role as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA also plays an important role in myelination.

Eye movements during emotion recognition in faces.

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2014
When distinguishing whether a face displays a certain emotion, some regions of the face may contain more useful information than others. Here we ask whether people differentially attend to distinct regions of a face when judging different emotions ...

Microphysiological Glomerular Filtration Barriers: Current Insights, Innovations, and Future Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The glomerular filtration barrier (GFB) is the first step of blood filtration by the kidneys. The concerning increase of kidney diseases makes the development of new models essential. In this context, microphysiological glomerular filtration barriers focus on closely reproducing the physiological architecture of the in vivo GFB: podocytes, glomerular ...

What is the role of the film viewer? The effects of narrative comprehension and viewing task on gaze control in film

open access: yesCognitive Research, 2017
Film is ubiquitous, but the processes that guide viewers’ attention while viewing film narratives are poorly understood. In fact, many film theorists and practitioners disagree on whether the film stimulus (bottom-up) or the viewer (top-down) is more ...

Defending Yarbus: eye movements reveal observers' task.

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2014
In a very influential yet anecdotal illustration, Yarbus suggested that human eye-movement patterns are modulated top down by different task demands. While the hypothesis that it is possible to decode the observer's task from eye movements has received ...

High‐Resolution Reverse Offset Printed Electroluminescent Multipixel Arrays for Scalable Future Wearable Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the effects of pixel size and spacing when fabricating electroluminescent (EL) multipixel displays. COMSOL simulations identify the impact of pixel dimensions and spacing on electric field distribution and lighting efficiency. Flexible, high‐resolution EL pixel arrays are reverse offset printed, achieving a 96% reduction in pixel ...

Continuous Auditory Feedback of Eye Movements: An Exploratory Study toward Improving Oculomotor Control

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2017
As eye movements are mostly automatic and overtly generated to attain visual goals, individuals have a poor metacognitive knowledge of their own eye movements.

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.
