The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology, 1984The variety of lesions that can cause alopecia of the eyelashes (Table 1) demonstrates the need for accurate diagnosis. A full-thickness biopsy of lid margin with appropriate three-suture closure can leave an imperceptible defect and may provide invaluable information.

Tolerated Eyelash Embedded in the Retina
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1974A large metallic foreign body and two eyelashes were embedded in the retina as a result of penetrating ocular trauma. Following removal of the metallic fragment and one eyelash, the vision in the injured eye has remained 20/20 over a three-year follow-up period in spite of the retention of the second eyelash in the retina.
