Horizontal Eyelid Movement on Eyelid Closure

Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2005
When performing ptosis surgery, a suture is placed between the levator and the tarsal plate at the point of the desired peak. This placement is done while the patient's eye is closed, but its effects are observed with the patient's eye open. Unaccounted-for horizontal eyelid movement on eyelid closing may therefore adversely affect the desired outcome.

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery And The Problem Eyelid

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1992
The human eyelid is an amazingly complex structure that is responsible for protecting, moisturizing, and reconstituting the external surface of the eye. Compromise of any of the tarsoligamentous supporting structures of the eyelids can result in eyelid malposition, corneal compromise, and even blindness.

Poroma of the Eyelid

Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2008
A 71-year-old white woman sought treatment for poroma of the right lower eyelid. Excisional biopsy was performed, and the specimen had histologic features consistent with poroma. One year after excision, there has been no recurrence of the lesion. Clinicians should be aware that poroma can occur in regions other than the hands and feet.

Loxoscelism of the Eyelids

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1981
To the Editor. —The article by Edwards et al entitled "Loxoscelism of the Eyelids" in the NovemberArchives(1980;98:1997-2000) has the following flaws, in my opinion. I do not believe the author can demonstrate that this necrosis of the eyelids was due to loxoscelism at all. The spider was not recovered to be identified by an expert, nor were findings
