Traditional Chinese Herbal Formula XuMingZhuSan Alleviates Neuronal Ferroptosis in Rats After Stroke by Activating the NRF2/GPX4/SLC7A11 Pathway

Traditional Chinese herbal formula XuMingZhuSan showed its efficacy in treating stroke. It was capable of attenuating neuronal damage and mitochondrial damage and reducing infarction volume in rats with stroke. Mechanically, XuMingZhuSan might treat stroke by relieving neuronal ferroptosis via activating the NRF2/GPX4/SLC7A11 pathway.

Photosensitizing lipid nanoparticles (PLNPs) are engineered by incorporating cholesterol–PEG–pheophorbide a into MC3‐based LNPs and encapsulating GPX4‐targeting siRNA. Upon light activation, PLNPs generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) while silencing GPX4 to induce ferroptosis.

Inhibition of ferroptosis by microbiota‐derived lithocholic acid underlies the intestinal radioprotection of a host defensin‐derived oligopeptide

AT9(C/G), an oligopeptide derived from human defensin 5, enriches Bifidobacterium pseudolongum and increases lithocholic acid (LCA) levels in the intestine. Reduced levels of LCA link to increased severity of ionizing radiation‐induced intestinal injury (IRIII) in both murine and clinical studies.
