HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Efficacy of contrast levels of non-phytate phosphorus and Aspergillus niger phytase in hens fed wheat-maize-based diets

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2012
A 2 × 2 factorial design experiment examined the effect of dietary non-phytate phosphorus (NPP) (1.3 and 4.0 g/kg) and 3-phytase (F) (0 and 150 FTU/kg) on the performance indicators of hens, physical parameters of eggs, phosphorus (P) content of the ...

Anticancer sensitivities and biological characteristics of HCT116 cells resistant to the selective poly(ADP‐ribose) glycohydrolase inhibitor

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed alterations of PAR metabolism‐related proteins in PARG inhibitor‐resistant HCT116RPDD cells. Although PARG levels remained unchanged, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited reduced PARP1 and ARH3 expression and elevated PAR levels. Interestingly, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited slightly elevated intracellular NAD+/NADH and ATP levels. Our findings suggest a

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...

The decay constants f D and fDs $$ {f}_{D_s} $$ in the continuum limit of N f = 2 + 1 domain wall lattice QCD

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We present results for the decay constants of the D and D s mesons computed in lattice QCD with N f = 2 + 1 dynamical flavours. The simulations are based on RBC/UKQCD’s domain wall ensembles with both physical and unphysical light-quark masses and ...

Tracking Motor Progression and Device‐Aided Therapy Eligibility in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterise the progression of motor symptoms and identify eligibility for device‐aided therapies in Parkinson's disease, using both the 5‐2‐1 criteria and a refined clinical definition, while examining differences across genetic subgroups.

Accelerated Progression of Gait Impairment in Parkinson's Disease and REM Sleep Without Atonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective People with Parkinson's disease (PD) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep without atonia (RSWA) often have more severe gait disturbances compared to PD without RSWA. The association between the presence and expression of RSWA and the rate of progression of gait impairment in PD is unknown.

Eye Movement Patterns during Locomotion in Real-World and Simulated Environments

open access: yesi-Perception, 2012
Eye movements in a search-and-count walking task were compared between a simulated (SE) and real-world environment (RE). Eye movements were recorded using the mobile WearCam in either RE or the StroMoHab locomotion simulator, a treadmill-based system for

Fungi of the Fusarium genus in the grains of conventional hybrids and transgenic Bt-hybrids of maize (Zea mays L.) in the Czech Republic

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2012
Fungi of the Fusarium genus, the agent of ear rot in maize, not only causes decrease in yields but also negatively affects grain quality and, in relation to mycotoxins production, the health of humans and animals.

Validating nuclear data uncertainties obtained from a statistical analysis of experimental data with the “Physical Uncertainty Bounds” method

open access: yesEPJ Nuclear Sciences & Technologies, 2020
Concerns within the nuclear data community led to substantial increases of Neutron Data Standards (NDS) uncertainties from its previous to the current version. For example, those associated with the NDS reference cross section 239Pu(n,f) increased from 0.
