Depression with and without Comorbid Substance Dependence in a Child Welfare Sample of Young Adults
The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of depression with and without substance dependence and examine the effect of risk factors on subsequent disorders among a cohort of young adults in the US Child Welfare System (CWS). We used longitudinal data for 834 young adults age 18–21 from the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well ...

Exploration and reduction of data using principal component analysis [PDF]
In a data set with two variables only, a scatterplot between the two variables can be easily plotted to represent the data visually. When the number of variables in the data set is large, however, it is more difficult to represent visually. The method of

All‐electric‐control magnetization switching is achieved in a sputtered single L10‐FePt film with an artificial lateral ordering gradient demonstrated by the structural characterization. The deterministic magnetization switching exhibits a strong angle dependence and can be effectively tuned through lateral asymmetry.

Patterns of regulatory heterogeneity in international trade: Intensity, coverage, and structure
Abstract With falling tariffs the role of regulatory heterogeneity in international trade has become central in recent debates about regional integration and trade costs. In describing the NTM incidence few studies explicitly take into account the specific nature of underlying regulatory differences.

Forests restored passively or by tree planting can take many decades to be recolonized by native forest understory plant species, if at all. Our study tested (1) the ability of forest topsoil transfer to accelerate the recovery of native forest plant communities in post‐agricultural reforestation sites after tree‐planting and without previous topsoil ...

Time-resolved x-ray absorption spectroscopy with a water window high-harmonic source [PDF]
Time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy (TR-XAS) has so far practically been limited to large-scale facilities, to sub-picosecond temporal resolution and to the condensed phase.

Lattice QCD Thermodynamics on the Grid
We describe how we have used simultaneously ${\cal O}(10^3)$ nodes of the EGEE Grid, accumulating ca. 300 CPU-years in 2-3 months, to determine an important property of Quantum Chromodynamics.
