Fabricating Superhydrophilic Wool Fabrics
Langmuir, 2009A simple method for fabricating environmentally stable superhydrophilic wool fabrics is reported here. An ultrathin silica layer coated on the wool altered both the surface roughness and the surface energy of the fiber and endowed the wool fabrics with excellent water absorption.

AbstractChemical and physical processes driven by multiphoton absorption make possible the fabrication of complex, 3D structures with feature sizes as small as 100 nm. Since its inception less than a decade ago, the field of multiphoton fabrication has progressed rapidly, and multiphoton techniques are now being used to create functional microdevices ...

Design and fabrication of Temperature Sensing Fabric
Journal of Industrial Textiles, 2013A temperature sensing fabric is described, along with the manufacturing techniques required to produce the fabric on a computerised flat-bed knitting machine. Knitted sensing fabrics with copper, nickel and tungsten wire elements have been produced with resistances ranging from 3 to 130 Ω.

Nanodiamond Fabrication of Superhydrophilic Wool Fabrics
Langmuir, 2019Nanodiamonds (ND) have been gaining impetus in fields such as medicine and electronics. ND has been widely used to modify polymer surfaces and composites for improved functionality. However, there have been limited research on ND application in regard to textile substrates.

Characterizing Fabric Pilling Due to Fabric-to-Fabric Abrasion
Textile Research Journal, 2001This paper describes a cylindrical lighting system and its applications for objectively assessing fabric pilling. This cylindrical lighting system allows easy isolation and measurement of pills by illuminating only the pills and suppressing the background.

Fabrication of fabric LED array
2015 Symposium on Design, Test, Integration and Packaging of MEMS/MOEMS (DTIP), 2015We have developed mechanically soft and conformable light emitting diode (LED)-implemented fabric for the applications to the three dimensionally complicated shapes of furniture, tents and ceilings by transforming the shape of the lighting fabric. The developed LED fabric is assembled by the process in which the LED-mounted 5 × 20 mm pieces of printed ...

TEXTILE, 2006
AbstractThe most stimulating theorization of architecture in relation to textiles should be attributed to the nineteenth-century German architect, Gottfried Semper. Starting with Semper's theory of dressing (Bekleidung), this paper provides a critical examination of the theme of surface permeating architectural images produced by digital techniques ...

Proceedings of the 29th Annual Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology, 2016
In recent years, extensive research in the HCI literature has explored interactive techniques for digital fabrication. However, little attention in this body of work has examined how to involve and guide human workers in fabricating larger-scale structures.
