Locus model for space-time fabric and quantum indeterminacies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A simple locus model for the space-time fabric is presented and is compared with quantum foam and random walk models. The induced indeterminacies in momentum are calculated and it is shown that these space-time fabric indeterminacies are, in most cases, negligible compared with the quantum mechanical indeterminacies.

Influence of the fabric properties on fabric stiffness for the industrial fabrics

open access: yes, 2008
Flexural rigidity of a fabric is among the important properties, especially for industrial applications of high performance fabrics. The relationships between various fabric properties and fabric stiffness were analyzed. Several monofilament fabrics were tested in the warp direction for this purpose.

Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.

Towards Improved Hybrid Actuation Mechanisms for Flapping Wing Micro Air Vehicles: Analytical and Experimental Investigations

open access: yesDrones, 2019
A new strategy is proposed in order to effectively design the components of actuation mechanisms for flapping wing micro air vehicles. To this end, the merits and drawbacks of some existing types of conventional flapping actuation mechanisms are first ...

Real-time Neural Woven Fabric Rendering [PDF]

open access: yes
Woven fabrics are widely used in applications of realistic rendering, where real-time capability is also essential. However, rendering realistic woven fabrics in real time is challenging due to their complex structure and optical appearance, which cause aliasing and noise without many samples.

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.
