Band‐Selective, Low‐Dispersion Terahertz Attenuators Based on 3D Bulk Metamaterials Leveraging De‐latticed Cross‐Bar Resonator Ensembles

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 15, 13 August 2026.
This paper presents 3D bulk metamaterials in which diced cross‐bar meta‐grains are randomly dispersed in a polymer matrix by molding. The de‐latticed composite provides isotropic and band‐selective THz attenuation with over tenfold dispersion suppression compared to the periodic metasurface.

Optical Responses From Zero Optical‐Path‐Length Object

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 15, 13 August 2026.
This work address a fundamental question—what is the ultimately minimal embodiment of optical objects that produce useful optical effects? In fact, such an object does not require nonzero physical and optical‐path‐length volume as opposed to the conventional perception.

Velocity‐Tunable Exciton‐Photon Hybridization in Cathodoluminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 62, 3 August 2026.
Transition‐radiation resonances in suspended thin crystals hybridise with excitonic transitions under free‐electron excitation. By tuning the electron energy, the photonic resonances are continuously detuned across the exciton states, enabling controllable exciton–photon hybridisation below the diffraction limit without altering the system geometry ...

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 63, 6 August 2026.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

3D Bioprinted Breast Cancer‐Stroma Model with Tailored Migration‐Permissive Bioink Reveals Impact of Adipose‐Derived Stromal Cells on Cancer Cell Migration and Invasion Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 30, 14 August 2026.
A migration‐permissive bioink composed of methacrylated collagen type I and thiolated hyaluronic acid enables 3D bioprinting of breast cancer‐stroma models. Single‐cell tracking reveals that adipose stromal cells enhance tumor cell motility and stromal invasion, accompanied by collagen remodeling, and a shift in tumor cell morphology.

Spacer‐Less Substrate‐Integrated Metasurface for Near‐Unity Terahertz Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 29, 7 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Although conventional metal‐insulator‐metal (MIM) terahertz (THz) absorbers can provide near‐unity absorption, their multilayer stacks inevitably introduce additional thickness, mass, and residual stress, which limit their compatibility with THz thermal sensing platforms.

Cellulose as a Platform for Biodegradable Metasurfaces: THz Characterization and Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 8, August 2026.
The demand for sustainable THz technologies has motivated the development of biodegradable, flexible devices based on ethyl cellulose. Metal‐backed EC metasurfaces were analytically designed and fabricated to achieve near‐perfect THz absorption. Reflection‐mode THz spectroscopy confirmed resonant absorption at 0.576 and 0.411 THz, demonstrating the ...
