Elastic Properties of Titan Tholins Revealed by Brillouin Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Titan tholins, complex organic solids synthesized by simulating photochemical processes in Titan's atmosphere, are widely regarded as analogs to organic surface materials on the Saturnian moon. Their mechanical properties are critical for understanding the evolution of Titan's geomorphology and crustal layering.

Association of Three HIF‐1α Genotypes With Susceptibility and Severity of Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypoxic signaling is a critical factor in the pathogenesis of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Hypoxia‐Inducible Factor 1 (HIF‐1) is a transcription factor that is highly expressed in the kidney and is associated with renal tubular hypoxic adaptation. Variation in the HIF‐1α subunit gene has been associated with renal pathologies.

Multi‐Objective Inverse Design of a Dual‐Narrowband Thermal Emitter for Optical Gas Sensing

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 18, 25 September 2026.
A lithography‐free, wafer‐scale dual‐narrowband thermal emitter is developed using a multi‐objective inverse design framework. It comprises an aperiodic Si/SiO2 dielectric multilayer deposited on a TiN refractory conductive ceramic film. Its dual emission peaks match characteristic absorption bands of CH4 and NO2 and enhance responses to both gases ...

Polarization‐Independent Single‐Band Guided‐Mode Resonance InGaAs Photodetector Array for Snapshot Multispectral Sensing

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 18, 25 September 2026.
Here, we report a single‐band guided‐mode resonance (GMR) InGaAs photodetector (PD) array. The device consists of an InGaAs PD with an ultrathin absorption layer bonded onto a Si 2D grating. Although a 2D crossed‐grating inherently supports many more optical modes than a 1D grating, we realized a single‐band response by introducing novel design ...
