Gas-pressure tuning of wavelength of photon pair emitted by Four-Wave-Mixing in Nanofibers [PDF]
We present experimental results demonstrating the possibility to tune the wavelength of the photon pair emitted through four wave mixing in a nanofiber, using the pressure of a gas surrounding the nanofiber. Using Argon, a shift of idler wavelength of -1.

Study of self-heated tapered silica microfibers by laser in air [PDF]
We present measurements of the temperature of optical microfibers self-heated by a cw laser emitting at 1.48 μm. The experimental method we have implemented is simple and enables to perform for the first time to our knowledge spatially distributed ...

Fabry disease is a rare X-linked recessive lysosomal storage disease. Multiple mutations of the GLA gene lead to a deficient or absent activity of the lysosomal enzyme α-galactosidase A, resulting in progressive glycotriaosylceramide accumulation in many organs.

Mechanical forces play an important role in the behaviour of cells, from differentiation to migration and the development of diseases. Optical tweezers provide a quantitative tool to study these forces and must be combined with other tools, such as phase

New Materials for Short-Pulse Amplifiers
Laser amplifiers seek high power, efficiency, and short pulse durations. Research laboratories in this field have focused their investigations toward new laser materials that can be efficiently diode pumped, sustain high-power pumping, and have broad ...

Ce:LYSO, from scintillator to solid-state lighting as a blue luminescent concentrator
Cerium-doped lutetium-yttrium oxyorthosilicate (Ce:LYSO) is a well-known single crystal scintillator used in medical imaging and security scanners. Recent development of high power UV LED, matching its absorption band, questions the possibility to use Ce:

Study of laser induced temperature variation in silica nanofibers [PDF]
After presenting a theoretical modelling based on the heat equation, we show two different experiments to measure the laser induced temperature variation in silica nanofibers in air, a direct one and an indirect one based on Brillouin scattering, leading

Synthetic exposure with a CMOS camera for multiple exposure speckle imaging of blood flow
Speckle contrast imaging is an established technique to obtain relative blood flow maps over wide fields of view. A major improvement of the method relies on the acquisition of raw speckle images at different exposure times but requires simultaneous ...

A 20-year-old man presented with generalized acquired anhidrosis and heat intolerance which was confirmed by a sweat test. Other clinical features included severe pain of the extremities and cutaneous angiokeratomas. On electronmicroscopy, granules specific for Fabry's disease were observed in the endothelial cells.
