Causal correlations between inflammatory proteins and heart failure: A two‐sample Mendelian randomization analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1374-1385, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Inflammation plays a critical role in both the development and progression of heart failure (HF), which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. However, the causality between specific inflammation‐related proteins and HF risk remains unclear.

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Exploring the Link Between Psoriasis and Genetic Predictors of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Traits: A Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by systemic inflammation and skin involvement, affecting millions of individuals worldwide. However, few studies have evaluated whether psoriasis and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) traits share a common genetic basis.

Chaotic dynamics in passively Q-switched Tm:LiYF4 laser operating at 2.3 μm on the 3H4 → 3H5 transition

open access: yesAPL Photonics
We report on the chaotic dynamics in a passively Q-switched 2.3-μm thulium laser operating on the 3H4 → 3H5 transition. The experiment exploits a Tm:LiYF4 crystal and various laser cavity configurations, involving an optional cascade laser on the 3F4 ...

Quantitative Mapping of Fibrotic Tissue Mechanics via Brillouin Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
Brillouin spectroscopy distinguishes fibrotic from healthy tissue based on localized stiffness changes and enables real‐time monitoring of dynamic alterations in viscoelastic properties during fibrogenesis. ABSTRACT Fibrosis is a pathological scarring process that disrupts tissue architecture, and is characterized by excessive extracellular matrix (ECM)

Micro‐Transfer Printed Continuous‐Wave and Mode‐Locked Laser Integration at 800 nm on a Silicon Nitride Platform

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A heterogeneous III‐V/SiN platform for lasers at 800 nm is realized using the micro‐transfer printing method. Efficient GaAs gain sections are directly butt‐coupled to SiN waveguides, enabling continuous‐wave and mode‐locked extended‐cavity lasers. The mode‐locked lasers generate highly stable pulse trains with repetition rates up to 9.2 GHz and a ...

Amplification of Light‐Ultrasound Interaction in a Pi‐Shifted Fiber Bragg Grating for Enhanced Ultrasonic Sensitivity

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
By precisely engineering the geometry of a fiber‐based optical resonator, the interaction between confined light and external ultrasound waves is significantly amplified without sacrificing light confinement, boosting the ultrasound detection sensitivity beyond 0.5 mPa/√Hz.

Enhanced Dichroic Coloration Through Void‐Particle Induced Interference in Randomly Distributed Cu2O Octahedrons on Glass Substrate

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
In randomly distributed Cu2O octahedron particles on a glass substrate, the absence of particles in certain areas generates a distinct “void‐particle induced interference” phenomenon. This effect results in notable reflection and transmission dichroism, characterized by two reflection peaks within the visible spectrum, but only a single transmission ...
